Why the Redwood Forest slideshow?

Judy had always loved trees, and in 2008 we spent some time among the California Redwoods. Some of the ingredients in Judy's chemo cocktail were derived from trees (not Redwoods but Yews). We always knew that Judy loved the trees, and the trees got their chance to repay her affection.

Off to OKC

Wow, did Judy have a nice birthday yesterday--all those calls, e-mails, and cards were overwhelming. She's feeling spoiled! A big thanks to Wes and Susan for having us over for a simple spaghetti dinner, something that Judy not only loves (seriously, as a kid that was her favorite food) but can also digest right now. also a big thanks to Emily for being our chauffeur.

Today we're off to Oklahoma City to officiate the Redman Triathlon. This will be the last race for Judy until she has recovered from surgery, and she sure didn't want to miss this one. Even though it is a long drive to OKC from Lubbock, at this time of the year (and with the current perfect weather) it is always a pretty 6 1/2-hour drive once we hit the rolling hills east of Amarillo. We'll drop the roof of the Miata and will let the worries fly away.

What wonderful pictures! Thanks for posting these. I have the 25th on my calendar. Any flower allergies we should know about? Also, do you know a surgery time of day? So glad the meeting with the doc went well. Always very important. Thinking of you daily............ hugs and prayers, Rachel

Hi Judy, Hi Jurgen,
Somehow I never got the email with the news of you illness, but luckily Celia sent me an email, assuming I had received the news, and I thought the bad news was to do with Ike passing through Texas! In hindsight I wish it had been only that!
Judy, you know you have a winning team - with my buddy beside you and all those wonderful friends I see on the blog, any other result but a winning one is unthinkable.
A belated Happy Birthday from Lidya, Sandra, Karen, Simon and I. We will be thinking of you both especially on Thursday, but I can assure you that you are constantly in our thoughts. A BIG cuddle from us all, Howard.

Happy Belated Birthday, Judy!! I would have made you chocolate truffels or a homemade gourmet recipe cake just like the ones you've so wonderfully made for me. However, I don't cook! hee!! Thank, God I married one! We hope you've had a good time celebrating your birthday. Please know you are loved by many. Priscilla, David, & Elizabeth
