Why the Redwood Forest slideshow?

Judy had always loved trees, and in 2008 we spent some time among the California Redwoods. Some of the ingredients in Judy's chemo cocktail were derived from trees (not Redwoods but Yews). We always knew that Judy loved the trees, and the trees got their chance to repay her affection.

A quiet Sunday evening at the hospital

After having been gone for 36 hours I am back with Judy in the hospital. When I left, she was in ICU--and when I came back, she was in her room (#527), looking and sounding 150% better than when I left. What a change!

I have just gone through the notes that Judy's fabulous caretakers have left in our little diary. It was Judy's idea to have such a booklet so that whoever is sitting with her has an idea of who has been by to visit, what treatment was performed, what else has happened.

While I was in Palo Duro where so many of you showed your concern and support for Judy, friends and family dropped by the hospital and paid Judy a visit. Now the little woman is all worn out, and I have urged her to nap. She has received an additional two units of blood as a precautionary measure since her blood count was a bit low, but the nurse did not indicate that there is any kind of internal bleeding or other complication. Judy can now drink water, tea, and apple juice, and she can actually sip it instead of sucking it out of a small sponge. They're all little steps, but they appear significant.

I myself feel a tad tired after the drive and working the race, which was quite a success. In my racers' meeting I made clear that I was just a stand-in for Judy, who was supposed to be the head referee. They all cheered for her when I told them that Judy has every intention to be back next year. The Photo shows the lads at the hillclimb on Saturday. So, I better call it quits for the night.

Judy and Jurgen,

So glad to hear that all is going along nicely. Take it all very slowly and let Judy know that this is the time for her to learn to be selfish--thinking only of herself and her recovery. Ian crawls up in my lap every morning and asks if we are going to check on "Dudy" today. We love to see the pictures of you doing so well. Hang in there. Lots of prayers and hugs in your direction!

Hey Judy - I can never lose touch with my good friends at MHMR. Several of us "exes" try and stay in tune with what is going on there. Just want you to know that us "exes" are sending lots of good thoughts and prayers your way. Pam Frazier sent me info on you and I have forwarded to Gina Stockman, Tami Swoboda and Sharon Kresinske. Just know that we are pulling for you and know that you will be going home soon. I will be checking your blog. Take care of yourself!!!! Kathy Reasoner

There is season for all things...a season to give and a season to receive. The hardest of seasons (I think) is that of receiving....cuz it does a work on one's pride. Embrace your season of receiving. All the more richer will be your giving due to these experiences when that season returns. You of all people know the joy that comes when giving to anothers. Please allow others to have that same joy when giving to you and Jurgen. Blessings abound!

Love,
Priscilla, David, & Liz

Judy and Jurgen,

Just got back last night from seeing my Mom in Nebraska. She said to give both of you her best.

It sounds like things are progressing nicely post-operatively. I think of you both every day.

Keep up the good spirits.

Judy &Jurgen,
Glad to hear that things are going well. I'll bet you have the busiest room on the floor. Everyone loves you so much. so relax and enjoy it. My Mom said to tell you she wishes you a quick recovery and that you're in her prayers.

Man, you're going to be a twig by the time they let you out of there. Do you have a good blender? How long before you can have solids? Maybe some ice cream or something along that line, perhaps?!! Love you, WayneLorane
