Why the Redwood Forest slideshow?

Judy had always loved trees, and in 2008 we spent some time among the California Redwoods. Some of the ingredients in Judy's chemo cocktail were derived from trees (not Redwoods but Yews). We always knew that Judy loved the trees, and the trees got their chance to repay her affection.

Oktoberfest precedes the next chemo

On Saturday, Wes and Susan hosted a small Oktoberfest party, and the surprise guest was Emily, who had come up from Stephenville and was taking a break from her studies at Tarleton State. Jerred and Jennifer had come over, too, and Wes' mom rounded out the company. (And of course, there were the rug rats.)

We all had a fun evening, with lots of brats, potato salad, and, yes, beer. Judy had dug out the customary Oktoberfest decorations, and as a special treat all of us--young and old--played a wild game of "Topfschlagen" where the blind-folded player uses a wooden spoon to find and bang on an upside-down kitchen pot that hides some trinket. We all laughed so hard that our bellies hurt!

After a dreary Sunday (drizzle, fog, cold temps) we're back to the normal routine: Judy is having her lab work done this morning, I'm grading papers, and the outlook for tomorrow is another round of chemo.

Hi Judy!

Just stopping by to say "hi"!

Well we just had our first "hard" frost last night. Guess it's a good thing that we spent this past weekend doing the "end of season" yard work.

The raised beds are now all set for the winter..and this morning I planted the garlic and covered them with a nice covering of leaves (which I pilfered from our neighbor; I don't think he will even miss them-he has so many of them!).

Last year he even asked me to come take more of them-but I think he was just wanting me to rake his yard so he wouldn't have too ;>

Good luck with the chemo tomorrow!

Hugs,
Cindi :>

Hey Judy - been thinking about you the last couple of days. Hope the chemo went as well as chemo can. We sat with a friend a couple weeks ago as he went through his treatment... if I was up there, I'd be sitting with you, too.

Ruston is this weekend and it's just won't be the same :( this year. Gonna miss seeing you and what's-his-face.

Take care sweetie.
Hugs!
Kathy

Hi Judy!!!

Taking a break from my piles of homework-to shoot you a hug!!!!

No snow here yet..but I'm guessing it won't be long now. It will be sad say "so long" to the solar panels until 2010.

I'm still waiting for hubby to build me one last raised bed...and then I'll be all done with my winter chores. This last bed will go up against the house so that come Feb/March-when the area around the house no longer has 3 feet of snow-I can start some spinach and lettuce.

I have about 2 feet left to go on my afghan....need to get a tad more motivated. I'll send you a picture when I get it done!!

Hugs!!
Love,
Cindi :)

Hi Judy!!

Trying to get motivated today-was up way too late working on homework-yikes! I thought I had left those days far, far, behind ;>

Dixi and I have a Therapy Dog visit at the local library this afternoon-and I have about 2hrs of grooming to do between now and the time we have to leave. Thankfully she's pretty agreeable to all the primping.

Hugs from me to you!!!!

Cindi :)
