Why the Redwood Forest slideshow?

Judy had always loved trees, and in 2008 we spent some time among the California Redwoods. Some of the ingredients in Judy's chemo cocktail were derived from trees (not Redwoods but Yews). We always knew that Judy loved the trees, and the trees got their chance to repay her affection.

Another "up" day

Saturday night in Bryan/College Station, and I just got off the phone with Judy--hey, you can reach her at this number directly, no hospital operators needed: 806-725-7527.

She appears to have had a very good day. The infection has been traced to the central line that was removed yesterday--that was the "implanted" port in her chest area, not the NG tube (which was also removed). She's still running cyclical fevers (I tell her it's malaria, but she won't have any of it), but Tylenol has been helping to manage it.

She was so proud that she drank an entire glass of apple juice and even managed to eat half a bowl of vegetable soup (sans the legumes). She has also restarted her walking excursions on the station floor. So, we took a few steps back last week but she seems to have overcome the adversity and is picking things up. As Scott said in his comment to the last post: Let's keep our fingers crossed that some of next week's posts will originate from our residence.

I am staying with Michelle B. and her family in College Station tonight and will keep this update short. I am sure that I will see some of you tomorrow at the BTU mountain bike race.

And as I said, feel free to give Judy a ring--if nobody picks up, she and Lorane are probably walking. Please try back later.

Jürgen

Woo-hoo! This is all great news. You are so fortunate to have such expert health care professionals working with you. It seems like they are quickly (though it may not feel that way to you!) identifying the things that have caused problems. It seems now that you'll be back in your own bed (and your own pajamas!) in no time! You go girl! Cindy

Cancer gives one such a new perspecive on life. you really learn what really matters in the world - like your relationships with others - and what doesn't matter. You don't sweat the small stuff, as they say. and you also truly appreciate and feel blessed with each good day. And when you are not having a good day, you muddle through it and say, its over with, and I never have to repeat this yucky day again. Tomorrow is a new day; another opportunity for a good day!

Take care.

I am truely greatful for the support and dedication you have given my Aunt over the past two weeks, she needed you more than you'll ever know and it truely shows your vibrant colors and amazing character.

These difficult times will prove to have an amazing impact on how both of you live rest of your life and I'm excited share it with you! It upsets me that takes something like this as humans to realize how beautiful every breath or bike ride we take is, just know that difficult times are sometimes neccessary.

If you can find the good out of all of the bad then these last couple weeks were neccesary and part of a plan much larger than anyone of us! I can't wait till your out of the ward and back on your bike again.

God Bless both of you,
Conner

P.S. Please give Juju a big kiss for me.
